1 Samuel 17:34-35

34But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep sheep for his father. And when there came a lion, or a bear, and took a lamb from the flock, 35I went after him and struck him and delivered it out of his mouth. And if he arose against me, I caught him by his beard and struck him and killed him.

Luke 15:4-6

4 aWhat man of you, having a hundred sheep, bif he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine cin the open country, and dgo after the one that is lost, until he finds it? 5And when he has found it, ehe lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for fI have found my sheep that was lost.’

John 10:11-12

11 gI am the good shepherd. The good shepherd hlays down his life for the sheep. 12He who is ia hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and jleaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and kscatters them.
